About this zone

Powercor serves a large area stretching from outer western Melbourne through the Geelong region, the Grampians, Loddon–Mallee, and the Wimmera to the South Australian border.

Powercor is the electricity distributor for this area — the company that owns the poles, wires, and smart meter at your address. Your electricity retailer (the company that sends your bill) is separate. Every retailer that serves this zone and publishes to the CDR feed is included in Nemity’s comparison.

Plans in this zone

As at 16 October 2026, there are 1,035 electricity plans available in the Powercor zone. These include single-rate, time-of-use, controlled load, and solar plans, as well as the Victorian Default Offer.

What plans charge in the Powercor zone

Network charges are set per distribution zone, so a retailer selling the same product across Victoria files a different price in each one. These are the Powercor figures, GST-inclusive, from the same weekly snapshot as the comparison:

  • Lowest daily supply charge: $0.7876/day, on Tango Energy’s Everyday Easy — which charges 24.53c/kWh for usage.
  • Lowest single rate: 21.252c/kWh, on Sumo’s Sumo Sunrise Plus — which charges $1.1111/day.
  • Middle of the market: $1.3805/day plus 28.215c/kWh.

Those are two different plans: each beats the other on one of the two charges and loses on the other, so neither is simply the cheapest. Which one costs you less depends on how much you use, which is why Nemity prices every plan against your own meter data instead of ranking rates.

Supply charges are from the 242 residential plans in this zone, of every kind, because every plan has one. Usage rates are from the 92 that charge one flat rate all year. Time-of-use, stepped, seasonal and free-window plans are left out of those because no single rate describes them. Plans only some households can join are left out of both, and so are plans whose filed rate is not the price you pay, such as a wholesale rate. All of them are in the comparison itself. How to get your meter data from Powercor

Your meter data (the half-hourly usage readings needed for an accurate comparison) comes from Powercor’s online portal: myEnergy.

What you need:

  • Your NMI — a 10 or 11-digit number near the top of your electricity bill

Steps:

  1. Register with an email address and password.
  2. Sign in and open My properties. If your address is not listed, choose Add a property → Single property, then enter your NMI.
  3. Go to Energy usage, check the right property is selected, then open Actions → Download reports.
  4. Choose Detailed report (CSV) for the last 24 months (preferred), or Victorian Energy Compare report for the last 12 months. The myEnergy "Download energy reports" dialog as it looked in October 2026, listing 1. Summary report (PDF), 2. Detailed report (CSV), 3. Summary report (CSV), and 4. Victorian Energy Compare report. Option 2 is outlined.
  5. Download the file, then upload it to Nemity.

On a brand-new account your usage can take a day or two to appear, while the portal checks your NMI against your retailer’s records. If it looks empty at first, it usually is not broken — check back.
