Compare AusNet electricity plans

Northern and eastern Victoria. 1,022 electricity plans available as at 16 October 2026.

About this zone

AusNet (formerly AusNet Services) serves northern and eastern Victoria — the outer northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, Gippsland, the Alpine region, and areas stretching to the New South Wales border.

AusNet is the electricity distributor for this area — the company that owns the poles, wires, and smart meter at your address. Your electricity retailer (the company that sends your bill) is separate. Every retailer that serves this zone and publishes to the CDR feed is included in Nemity’s comparison.

Plans in this zone

As at 16 October 2026, there are 1,022 electricity plans available in the AusNet zone. These include single-rate, time-of-use, controlled load, and solar plans, as well as the Victorian Default Offer.

What plans charge in the AusNet zone

Network charges are set per distribution zone, so a retailer selling the same product across Victoria files a different price in each one. These are the AusNet figures, GST-inclusive, from the same weekly snapshot as the comparison:

  • Lowest daily supply charge: $0.7150/day, on Tango Energy’s Everyday Easy — which charges 27.94c/kWh for usage.
  • Lowest single rate: 24.519c/kWh, on Sumo’s Sumo Sunrise Plus — which charges $1.2151/day.
  • Middle of the market: $1.2824/day plus 30.0971c/kWh.

Those are two different plans: each beats the other on one of the two charges and loses on the other, so neither is simply the cheapest. Which one costs you less depends on how much you use, which is why Nemity prices every plan against your own meter data instead of ranking rates.

Supply charges are from the 246 residential plans in this zone, of every kind, because every plan has one. Usage rates are from the 24 that charge one flat rate all year. Time-of-use, stepped, seasonal and free-window plans are left out of those because no single rate describes them. Plans only some households can join are left out of both, and so are plans whose filed rate is not the price you pay, such as a wholesale rate. All of them are in the comparison itself. How to get your meter data from AusNet

Your meter data (the half-hourly usage readings needed for an accurate comparison) comes from AusNet’s online portal: myHomeEnergy.

What you need:

  • Your NMI — a 10 or 11-digit number near the top of your electricity bill
  • Your meter number, also on the bill

Steps:

  1. Register with your NMI and meter number, then verify your email address.
  2. Sign in and find your meter data.
  3. Choose the detailed download (NEM12), covering up to 2 years.
  4. Download it, then upload it to Nemity.

You must be the main account holder on the electricity account, and you need a smart meter. On a basic meter, request your data at meterdata.ausnetservices.com.au instead. AusNet also turns away meters with more than two usage channels plus one solar channel.
